Completion of Heidelberg Togo Cement Plant Undertaken by Chengdu Design & Research Institute of Building Materials Industry Co., Ltd. (CDI)

As reported by Lome Branch of the state news agency Xinhua on March 6, 2015 (by reporter Zhang Gaiping), the 5000 TPD clinker cement plant in Tabligbo, Togo undertaken by Chengdu Design & Research Institute of Building Materials Industry Co., Ltd. was officially announced to be completed on March 6, 2015.
The cement plant in Tabligbo is invested by Heidelberg Cement Group of Germany and constructed by CDI under the mode of EPC turnkey project, which means CDI has provided engineering design, equipment procurement and delivery, construction and erection, commissioning and testing services to the Owner.
Located at Yoto of Région Maritime, Togo, about 90km to the north east of the capital, Lome, the cement plant in Tabligbo is the second cement plant in Togo and the largest one in west Africa. Under the circumstances that Togo is suffered from weak indusial infrastructures and basically no manufacturing industry, inauguration of this cement plant is undoubtedly very good news to the government and the people in Togo.
Present at the celebration ceremony are President Faure, Mr. Prime Minister, Mr. Chairman of the House, Mr. Minister of Mines and Energy Ministry, Ambassador of China to Togo, Mr. Liu Yuxi, Ambassador of Germany to Togo, Ambassador of France to Togo, U.S. Commissioner in Togo and representatives from the World Bank. Mr. Minister of Mines and Energy Ministry, on behalf of Togo government, highly appreciated the outstanding contributions the Chinese companies have made to the project.
At the ceremony, Mr. Scheifele, CEO of Heidelberg Cement Group, highly valued and appreciated the quality and the schedule CDI has achieved for the project.
Mr. Jiao Feng, Chairman of CDI, also took part in the completion ceremony. Mr. Jiao thanked Heidelberg Group, Togo government and China’s Embassy in Togo for their support and help, and expressed the wish to have more extensive and profound cooperation with Heidelberg Group and Togo government.
As the turnkey contractor, CDI started the construction of the cement plant in Tabligbo on August 1, 2012 and succeeded in firing the kiln on September 11, 2014, and the plant is under trial production now.
